About Us
Bonkersfrog was created by Cris & Andy, we are both passionate about the outdoors, for many years we have enjoyed mountain biking, walking, cycling and canoeing around the world, from extreme mountain biking in the mountains of Colorado, to the Utah desert, to the gentle riverside amble on the Camel Trail in Cornwall, we have indulged in the local food, wine and culture and sampled the best that the outdoors can offer. Our experiences inspired us to create Bonkersfrog Activity Holidays.
We are very aware that there are plenty of holiday packages in the market place today that cater for people who want extreme experiences but we feel that there will be many other people like us that still want a bit of excitement, exercise and discovery but want to return from their holiday relaxed, invigorated but still having all your limbs attached and in good order!
Our holidays do require that our guests have a moderate level of fitness and for the cycling holidays know how to ride a bike. Even for the Off Road holidays, experience is not essential but a willingness to try new things is. The terrain is rugged but not rough. The itinerary will be chosen based on the average experience/fitness of the group.
Many years ago we found this very special place, we spent 3 years researching the delights which are found on our very doorstep - thousands of km of cross country trails and farm tracks, quiet roads, hills to stretch you, downhill runs to excite you, lakes and rivers to relax you, fantastic scenery, friendly locals, interesting history, architecture and of course delightful bistros and bars. We want to share all that we have discovered with you.
We specialise in small group holidays and we aim to give our guests a hugely enjoyable and stress free holiday experience, staying at our lovely renovated farmhouse or in local family run hotels, included in our price is accommodation, guiding, breakfasts, most lunches and most evening meals, airport/train stn. transfers, daily transport, walking maps, use of bikes and helmets, hire of canoes and safety equipment and a whole lot of fun.
We are not part of a giant corporation, we offer small group holidays focussing on discovery, activity, relaxation, conversation, experiences and fun with a minimal impact on the environment.
Environmentally Friendly!
Wherever possible we use energy saving lightbulbs. We actively encourage our guests to recycle and we provide waste separation facilities on site. Although we only have a small amount of land attached to our property, the meals that we provide do use as much home grown produce as we can, and of course being in a farming community we are able to use locally produced free range eggs, meat, goats cheese and we are constantly on the look out for more. We are also currently researching Bio Fuels for our vehicles, and hope to soon fit solar water heating for both the farmhouse and the pool. Our renovations have been carried out where ever possible using recycled materials or environmentally friendly and natural products and materials.
